Activision has officially announced that Call of Duty 5 will be released in Fall 2008!!! That was not a typo. It is being released one year after it's predecessor, and for multiple platforms as they did for Call of Duty 3.
The game will be released on PC, PS3, XBox 360, PS2, Wii, and DS. Although there was no mentioned of a PSP version, I would expect to see the game on that platform as well.
Seriously though, a new Call of Duty is released each year in the Fall, so this should be no real surprise:
