Recently, SEGA has been working on as many as three games in the Aliens Universe; yet it seems two of them, Aliens: Colonial Marines (Gear Box) and an Aliens RPG (Obsidian) have been delayed or canceled. However, the recently uncovered Aliens Vs. Predator title (due to ship in early 2010) sounds like it could be quite the experience! Kotaku reports that work is being done to truly differentiate the three player classes, namely the Alien, Colonial Marine, and Predator.
The Alien class will be able to scale both walls and ceilings, and will be the fastest of the three. The Predator will have the cloaking ability (invisibility) seen in the movies, as well as the ability to jump and glide like it does in the movies (think Zero-G sequences from Dead Space).
SEGA here's an idea: take Aliens: Colonial Marines, which is a squad-based four player cooperative third person shooter, and integrate it as an online cooperative mode within the new Aliens Vs. Predator game! Resistance 2 offers a completely separate experience for cooperative play with eight players, SEGA show us how you could improve on this formula. No other game today offers a fully flushed out game as a cooperative experience. Alien Vs. Predator would instantly be the best value proposition on the market, and if the game play is as tight as I would expect from developers like Gear Box and Rebellion, the combination of the two could be Game of the Year!
