PS3 Firmware 2.40 coming June 18th?

Lots of rumors are flying around about PS3 Firmware 2.40. When will it arrive? And what will it bring to PS3 owners?  The website  PSXExtreme provides some answers:
We have more evidence that the long-awaited in-game XMB will arrive with firmware update 2.40 for the PlayStation 3.

Dutch gaming website PlayStation Only cites their own Sony source that claims update 2.40 will be available on June 18. Multiple sources have listed a June 10 release, but PS Only says that's incorrect. Furthermore, and more importantly, they do say that the in-game XMB is "confirmed" for this firmware update, and while it isn't official, they also say that Trophies are "likely." This may be the update many PS3 owners have been waiting for ever since the system's launch. Several details concerning the XMB have been crisscrossing the Internet, and the idea of implementing soundtracks directly into our games is very cool. Of course, Sony hasn't issued any press releases or announcements about update 2.40, but if it's going to release on June 18, we expect to see something shortly.

Actually, a good place to check on this stuff is the official PlayStation blog, where we've seen some of the earliest info for past firmware updates. In the meantime, we're anxiously anticipating that XMB and the Trophies...who isn't?
