Is the tide finally turning in favor of the PS3 over the XBox 360? No, because it has already turned, you may just have not noticed. The PS3 has already captured the mindshare of gamers. What evidence do I have? What keen insight am I privy too? What was my research criteria? Don't laugh... it's a combination of GameStop, Craig's List, and Amazon. If you search Graig's List for "PS3 trade" you find a number of people trying to trade PS3 games, and a number of people willing to trade their XBox 360 for a PS3, but it's rare now to find someone looking to trade their PS3 for an XBox 360. Why? Because IHMO gamers "value" the PS3 more than the XBox 360.
If you go into your local GameStop, you may notice that about half the cross-platform games available on both the XBox 360 and PS3 are the same price for a pre-owned copy, and the other half, are more expensive on the PS3 (generally by about $5). Why is that when the price is identical for new games? IHMO, it's because there's greater demand for the PS3 version. And finally, if you check Amazon's game deals regularly (as I do), you'll find there are more specials offered for the XBox 360 versions of cross-platform games. Why? I think it's because recently [in a bad economy] more incentive is needed for gamers to purchase XBox 360 games then their PS3 counterparts.
